Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at the Arizona Department of Corrections - Yuma. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a critical role in our continuing mission to provide quality healthcare in the correctional industry.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Implement interventions for patients to promote positive behavioral change and improve mental health outcomes.
  • Supervise patients and provide formal education in routine activities of daily living, such as hygiene, eating, and recreation.
  • Plan and implement activities programming and leisure activities to promote patient engagement and well-being.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of records pertaining to patient mental health, including scheduling and conducting telepsychiatry appointments.
Requirements
  • Competencies with Excel sufficient to create, maintain, and update scheduling databases.
  • Experience working in a correctional environment preferred.
  • Must show current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work/Sciences, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
  • Level 1 Psychiatric Technician Certification from the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians preferred, not required.
  • Two years or more experience providing activities programming for patients who have a serious mental illness required.
