Lead Dental Hygiene Education at Pima Medical Institute

As the Dental Hygiene Program Director at Pima Medical Institute, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of dental hygiene education. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in driving the growth and development of our faculty, staff, and students, while ensuring the quality of our Dental Hygiene program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Faculty Supervision: Oversee the activities of the Dental Hygiene Program faculty, preparing teaching assignments and ensuring a high level of academic excellence.
  • Recruitment and Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate faculty members in conjunction with the Faculty Coordinator, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Departmental Goals: Determine, establish, and implement departmental goals, driving student success and program excellence.
  • Student Success: Monitor student success rates, implement strategies to reduce withdrawals, and maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught in the program.
  • Admissions and Budgeting: Coordinate, evaluate, and determine student admissions criteria and procedures, while monitoring the department budget and making adjustments to ensure a profitable program.
  • Faculty and Advisory Board Meetings: Schedule and chair faculty and advisory board meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and maintain a functional curriculum, evaluating course content and collaborating with administration to design and implement the dental hygiene program.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Prepare self-study for accreditation and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Instructional and Administrative Responsibilities: Perform functions of a dental hygiene instructor, represent Pima Medical Institute at professional meetings, and provide tutoring assistance to students as needed.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree: Hold a Master's degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Dental Hygiene Experience: Possess three years of full-time clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist, with a graduate degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Teaching Experience: Have previous teaching experience in a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), with a strong background in educational methodology and instructional design.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Hold a current license, certification, or other credential required by local, state, and federal laws to work as a Dental Hygienist.
