Position Overview

The Meat Specialist is responsible for executing tasks related to the cutting, preparation, presentation, and sale of various meat products. Key Responsibilities
  • Skillfully cuts, arranges, and displays meat products including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
  • Prepares specialty meat items such as sausages, oven-ready meals, and cured meats.
  • Ensures all products meet the quality standards set by Whole Foods Market.
  • Maintains a sampling program to engage customers.
  • Monitors inventory to prevent spoilage and waste.
  • Provides mentorship and support to trainee meat cutters.
  • Arrives punctually at the workstation, properly groomed and ready for work; adheres to scheduled shifts and participates in required training sessions.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service, promptly addressing customer needs and employing suggestive selling techniques; answers inquiries with courtesy.
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective procedures for preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of products.
  • Adheres to established procedures regarding weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment and ensures equipment is kept in accordance with safety standards.
  • Completes opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; verifies accuracy of signage and pricing.
  • Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by store or regional leadership.

Experience Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Capability to work in wet and cold environments.
  • Proficient in handling knives and other cutting tools.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
