Research Opportunities in Neuro-oncology and Neurovascular Medicine

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking highly motivated individuals to fill four open research positions in neuro-oncology and neurovascular medicine. We are looking for investigators holding MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degrees to join our team and contribute to our active and well-established programs in neuro-oncology and cerebrovascular clinical research.

Research Focus Areas
  • Neuro-oncology: Broadly based research interests in the field of neuro-oncology, including primary and metastatic adult brain tumors, genomics, proteomics/kinomics, or epigenetics at the single cell level, immunobiology of host-tumor interactions, and relevant patient-derived models of cancer.
  • Cerebrovascular: Protective effects of ischemic preconditioning, endothelial dysfunction in ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, role of inflammation in stroke, mechanisms of angiogenesis and arteriogenesis in chronic ischemia, and platelet/surface interaction.
Requirements
  • MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree
