Transportation Coordinator

As a Transportation Router at Sysco, you will play a critical role in facilitating the efficient and timely delivery of customer orders. You will utilize Roadnet software packages and associated utilities to generate the best possible route solutions, ensuring compliance with hours of service and weight laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Route all legitimate customer orders in the most efficient manner possible, taking into account multiple shipping facilities, time constraints, and established procedures.
- Plan routes, integrating new customers into existing routes, determining the need for new routes and shuttle yards, and planning for necessary route adjustments due to seasonality.
- Analyze existing routes for opportunities to reduce miles, delivery days, and hours to improve cost control and consistency of deliveries.
- Perform standard route maintenance to capture changes and ensure accuracy.
- Schedule drivers on a daily and weekly basis to remain within overtime guidelines and hours of service laws and regulations.
- Maintain and provide accurate daily loading and door information for the warehouse department.
- Plan and prepare meetings and presentations for sales management and the executive staff to communicate proposed service areas and expense control opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain the Roadnet system and prepare reports for sales and management.
- Create proposals for transportation management to improve efficiency, customer service, and safety.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); college degree preferred.
- Professional Skills: Computer skills in MS Office (Excel), analytical/mathematical skills, accuracy, reliability, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform mathematical operations and prepare reports and business correspondence.
- Effective communication skills to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
