Wu Yee Children's Services is on the lookout for dedicated early childhood education associates who are passionate about providing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with comprehensive access to enriching learning experiences that lay the groundwork for their future success. Our organization operates 12 child development centers in diverse communities where early education is critically needed. Incentive: A one-time hiring bonus of $2,000 will be awarded after the successful completion of a 90-day introductory period. This offer is exclusive to new Associate Teachers or Lead Teachers applying for our high-need locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in designing and executing age-appropriate educational programs that foster children's development across various domains.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate teacher-child ratios, maintaining visual supervision of children at all times.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive classroom atmosphere for all children and their families.
  • Adhere to Wu Yee policies and procedures to guarantee that all activities align with licensing requirements and educational standards.
  • Maintain open and timely communication with program staff, including the Center Manager, Lead Teacher, and Family Advocates to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Document significant interactions with families and keep accurate records, including attendance and emergency contact information.
  • Conduct formal observations and assessments of children in your care according to established timelines.
  • Develop and maintain portfolios that showcase the unique strengths and growth areas of the children you support.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with families and facilitate parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Encourage family involvement in center activities, special events, and committees.
  • Participate in the referral process for children with suspected developmental delays.
  • Collaborate with program staff and specialists regarding any concerns related to a child's development.
  • Perform daily health checks for children entering the center.
  • Ensure accurate sign-in and sign-out procedures for children.
  • Conduct safety inspections of outdoor play areas before activities commence.
  • Model and teach essential health and hygiene practices to children.
  • Assist in preparing the classroom for meals and rest periods.
  • Participate in food preparation in accordance with program policies and health regulations.
  • Engage in family-style dining with children.
  • Record meal counts accurately during service.
  • Follow established health and safety protocols, including sanitizing classroom materials.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchenware daily in compliance with Wu Yee standards.
  • Assume Lead Teacher duties in their absence.
  • Adjust work schedules as necessary to meet program needs.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A valid California Child Development Associate Teacher permit.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children and diverse populations.
  • Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Positive and professional demeanor.
  • Proven ability to support families effectively.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Verification of COVID vaccination is required for employment.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • A competitive salary of $38.59, with an additional temporary hourly rate adjustment of $4.80 for staff who successfully complete the introductory period.
