Position Summary:
We are in search of a dedicated and proficient Nurse Practitioner to provide per diem services within our client’s healthcare team. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance patient care and contribute positively to health outcomes.
The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering care to low-risk obstetric patients on the OB/GYN inpatient service, adhering to established protocols and policies set forth by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Clinical Coordinator III NP will report to the Division Administrator for administrative matters and to the Collaborating Physician for clinical oversight. Direct supervision will be provided by attending physicians during patient care.
- The role offers a flexible schedule, with shifts typically running from 7:30 am to 8 pm.
- Weekend coverage may be required, encompassing both day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Management and Documentation:
- Gather and document comprehensive patient histories relevant to their chief complaints.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, noting significant findings.
- Formulate diagnostic impressions based on collected data.
- Prescribe medications in compliance with New York State and federal regulations.
- Develop targeted care plans that include health maintenance and appropriate medical interventions.
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatments.
- Provide health education tailored to patient needs and developmental stages.
- Consult and refer patients as per established collaborative agreements.
Direct Patient Care:
- Deliver comprehensive obstetric care for low-risk patients in various units.
- Ensure care aligns with the department's mission and goals.
- Advise on matters within the advanced nursing practice scope and New York State regulations.
- Exhibit strong clinical decision-making skills in providing care to low-risk obstetric patients.
- Enhance patient satisfaction within the assigned population.
Research and Quality Improvement:
- Assist in developing quality improvement studies for potential research applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent experience, along with five years of relevant experience.
- Master's Degree in a specialized field or completion of certification requirements for nurse practitioner programs.
- Current New York State RN and NP Licenses.
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty.
- Basic Life Support Certification for Nurse Practitioners providing direct patient care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain licensure throughout employment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High professionalism and maturity, with the capacity to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Proficiency in computer applications and adaptability to new technologies.
