Job Title: Center Attendant - Youth Development Professional

Location: Northwest Gibson County YMCA

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Northwest Gibson County YMCA as a Center Attendant. In this role, you will provide quality care and supervision to children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in our child-watch program. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing environment that promotes social responsibility, healthy living, and youth development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of each child under your care, providing visual and auditory attention as needed.
  • Implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate program activities that align with the YMCA's values.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the program site and equipment, including toys and supplies.
  • Keep accurate records of program activities and attendance.
  • Attend family nights, program activities, team meetings, and training sessions to stay informed and up-to-date on best practices.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues, modeling relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Possess conflict resolution skills, sound judgment, and initiative to address challenges and opportunities as they arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the program.

Working Conditions and Requirements:

  • The physical demands of this role include walking, standing, sitting (including on the floor), and lifting or assisting children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids may occur.
  • Bending, leaning, lifting, kneeling, and walking in both indoor and outdoor environments are common tasks.

Salary Estimate: $15-$18 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
