Youth Recreation Assistant

Job Summary

This position is located at Fort Drum, NY, and is responsible for providing recreational activities and services to children and youth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth recreation and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of youth recreational activities and skills in the use of various types of recreation equipment.
  • Instruct children/youth on proper use of equipment and ensure their safety.
  • Issue and receive recreational equipment, and maintain hand receipts and inventory.
  • Inspect supplies and equipment for damage and ensure sufficient supplies are on hand.
  • Assist in setting up sports events and may assist in athletic programs as needed.
  • Maintain an effective safety and accident prevention program.
  • Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks of facilities, grounds, and outdoor recreation areas.
Requirements
  • Progressively responsible work experience in equipment and facility maintenance, inventory, ordering, and instructing.
  • Use of various recreation equipment.
  • Good customer relations skills.
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, stoop, stand on a routine basis, and lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Information

This is a Regular Full-Time position with a minimum work week of 40 hours and eligible for benefits and leave accrual. Additional referrals may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 90 days after the closing date.
