Company Overview: Boston College's African & African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS) is committed to fostering innovative research and scholarship in the field of African and/or African Diaspora Studies. Our program seeks to promote critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and cultural awareness among our students and faculty.
Salary: The successful candidate will receive a $30,000 stipend for the 9-month academic year, as well as compensation for teaching one seminar course.
Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished scholar to join our team as a dissertation fellow. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting original research under the guidance of our faculty mentors, delivering one research presentation, and teaching one seminar course. The fellow will also have full access to BC's seven libraries and several rare book and manuscript collections.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in a PhD Program and be ABD by the start of the fellowship year. US Citizens, Permanent Residents, and International Students are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research skills, strong writing and communication abilities, and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
Benefits: In addition to the stipend and teaching compensation, the fellow will enjoy access to highly subsidized health insurance through Boston College, a $1,500 research budget, and a $3,000 moving expense allotment. The fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in AADS lectures and works-in-progress sessions, as well as events and installations sponsored by other programs on campus.
