Role Overview

The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for executing diagnostic angiographic procedures and conducting intricate vascular and non-vascular interventional examinations for patients in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency departments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist radiologists and other physicians during procedures, including scrubbing in as needed.
  • Execute each examination utilizing appropriate technical and positioning techniques in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitor patient conditions and assess the quality and completeness of examinations.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile trays for procedures.
  • Operate imaging and processing equipment with precision.
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document comprehensive patient histories and relevant information for radiologist review.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care across all age demographics.

Patient Care Considerations:
Involve family members when suitable, implement radiation protection measures, and utilize additional personnel as necessary.

  • Verify that all examination information is accurate, complete, and documented, including necessary supplies.
  • Ensure all documentation for invasive procedures is completed.
  • Complete online risk event reports as required.

Student Supervision:
Ensure students are performing within their capabilities, provide direct supervision until competency is established, and evaluate all radiographic studies while completing necessary student assessments.

Safety Protocols:

Adhere to isolation and universal precautions, participate in annual training as mandated by regulatory bodies, communicate fall risks, practice radiation safety, utilize protective gear, and ensure lead-lined doors are closed during procedures.

  • Display exceptional customer service skills.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications:
Current ARRT (R) certification and a valid Radiologic Technologist license issued by the State of Indiana are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:
ARRT (VI) certification is advantageous.
