Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to join our team at Precision Castparts Corp. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for directing and supervising department operations to meet safety, throughput, productivity, cycle time, and quality goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of control points, equipment, and resources, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise production activity within assigned manufacturing departments to achieve daily throughput that meets or exceeds our TOC lines.
  • Lead and facilitate cost reduction and productivity improvements for the department, resulting in a 4% productivity improvement quarter over quarter, with experience in Kaizen and Lean manufacturing tools.
  • Project manage Continuous Improvement and 6S activities for assigned manufacturing departments, coaching and training teams to improve maturity of understanding.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures and systems, and facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
  • Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Set priorities, schedule, and assign work within assigned departments, coordinating activities with other departments.
  • Ensure timely completion of quality audits in assigned manufacturing departments.
  • Interview, select, train, evaluate performance, grant increases, promote, transfer, counsel, discipline, and lay off subordinates to maintain a flexible, efficient, and well-motivated workforce.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other departments, government, and customer contacts.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or appropriate to the position.
Requirements
  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, applying concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 35lbs occasionally.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and vendors.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract concepts.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field highly preferred.
  • 4 to 6 years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, 6S, TPM, Process Flow, etc.).
  • Understanding of general construction practices.
Working Conditions
  • Works under limited direction and supervision, planning details of procedure and method to attain definite objectives, making decisions within broad limitations of policies and within accepted standards.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, driving, using hands to handle or feel, reaching above shoulder level, reaching below shoulder level, climbing, balancing, stooping or squatting, crawling, talking, hearing, pushing or pulling.
