Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fill and package medication, restock shelves, and compound or repackage medications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform cashiering duties, including collecting cash, checks, or credit card payments for collectible services.
  • Assist with patient transactions, including greeting patients, members, and healthcare personnel, and initiating service transactions using proper forms and processes.
  • Refer inquiries or issues regarding patient care or consultation to pharmacists.
  • Input patient and prescription information to produce labels and assist in the prescription filling process.
  • Match prescriptions with labels, select the proper drug and quantity, fill containers, apply labels, and present completed products to pharmacists for checking.
  • Process clinic and hospital drug requisitions, receive, fill, and update unit dose cassettes as needed.
  • Assist with and/or provide medication, OTC products, or supplies to patients in a helpful and caring manner.
  • Collect money if needed and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining accurate records, filing prescriptions, and reporting irregularities.
Requirements
  • Previous pharmacy experience or training in a pharmacy technician program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent related experience.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely handle and prepare compounds, adaptability, customer service, oral communication, multi-tasking, teamwork, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician training program.
  • Post-high school coursework or training.
