Job Title: Resident Assistant (RA)

Available Positions:
On Call Starting wage $18.50- required to work 2 shifts per month

Shift differential for Days $1.00, PM/NOC $4.00 per hour

NOC:
10pm-6am

Position Summary:
The Resident Assistant assists older or disabled individuals who require 24-hour oversight. The role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, promoting independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities are conducted in accordance with the philosophy of Good Shepherd Services.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
  • Assists with dressing, undressing, bathing, and personal hygiene
  • Monitors safe transfer and ambulation techniques
  • Cares for ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, and hearing aids

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living:

  • Assists with telephone-related tasks, housekeeping, and laundry
  • Escorts residents and coordinates internal and external transportation needs
  • Delivers mail and assists with personal correspondence

Medication Assistance:

  • Assists residents with medication administration and monitors medication supplies

Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks:

  • Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive status
  • Conducts room checks and resident rounds
  • Monitors environment safety hazards and records incidents

Dining:

  • Assists with dining-related tasks, encouraging independence

Activity Program:

  • Participates in and supports the resident-centered activity program
  • Transports residents for activities and appointments

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Responds to emergency situations and acts accordingly
  • Maintains facility housekeeping and performs maintenance tasks
