Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Parent Educator to provide targeted services to families with Early Childhood Education students, promoting parental involvement and social service needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visit students' homes to explain school programs, support parents, and reinforce positive attitudes towards school.
  • Assist in organizing and providing support to Early Childhood Education classrooms, Policy Council, and committees.
  • Develop criteria for the screening process and determine program participants.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory sessions, workshops, and parent group meetings.
  • Compile and maintain information for program reports and assist with report preparation.
  • Conduct personal contacts with parents, students, and staff in a professional manner.
  • Become knowledgeable of community resources and direct families to these agencies as needed.
  • Provide feedback on program participants' attitudes, opinions, and concerns.
  • Monitor attendance and recruitment.
  • Confer with the assigned school Social Worker to ensure federal and state program standards are met.
  • Provide family literacy materials and resources to support emergent literacy in the home environment.
  • Perform and promote activities in compliance with the School Board's equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
  • Participate in professional learning programs to enhance skills and proficiency.
  • Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, including Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards.
Requirements
  • Standard high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid certification in social work, human services, family services, or counseling.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and programs.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to work flexible hours.
  • Computer skills as required for this position.
