Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Regional Medical Center of Memphis. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care by performing assigned tasks for patient care plan implementation, including contributing information in day-to-day management of patient care, carrying out routine nursing care measures as delegated, and maintaining records of fluid intake and output.
  • Perform diagnostic EKGs as required, including informing and explaining EKG test purposes and procedures to patients, determining proper placement and attaching electrodes to specified areas of the patient's body, and ensuring accurate documentation in performing and processing all procedures.
  • Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy functions efficiently with a minimum of discomfort to patients, differentiating stat requests from routine samples, and preparing and transporting specimens and test requests to appropriate laboratories.
  • Interact and communicate in a customer responsiveness and courteous manner in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction, and work collaboratively with medical/hospital staff and patients to coordinate and implement patient care activities.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering telephone, responding to call signal, filing/assembling charts, completing tab sets, transcribing orders, and scheduling tests, and maintain patient medical records, documents patient status and care given, performs charting duties, records activities and observations, and utilizes patient computer systems to enter and retrieve data.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant program or completion of a nursing assistant program with documentation of training in EKG and Phlebotomy in lieu of medical assistant training.
  • Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with the neonatal, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
