Job Summary

Under the direction of a professional nurse, the Patient Care Assistant performs patient care activities to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients, assisting members of the healthcare team, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with general hygiene, vital signs, and measurements
  • Transport patients to and from treatment rooms and other areas of the hospital
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control practices
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families
  • Follow written and oral instructions, plan and organize work, and record observations
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved nursing assistant or medical assistant program
  • Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with infant, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients
  • One year of nursing assistant experience preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Current Nurse Aide Certification in the State of Tennessee required at hire or within sixty days of hire
Physical Demands

Constant walking and standing during assigned shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist; assist patients in turning, assist patients in treatment room, push wheelchair patients, and assist patients in rising from and returning to wheelchair; exposure to infectious agents; hearing and visual acuity to perform tasks and receive/interpret instructions.
