Position Overview

Job Title: Early Childhood Intervention Paraprofessional

The role of an Early Childhood Intervention Paraprofessional is pivotal in enhancing the educational experience for young learners by executing various instructional and non-instructional responsibilities under the guidance of certified professionals, including teachers and therapists.

As an Early Childhood Intervention Paraprofessional, you may provide individualized support to eligible preschool-aged children in diverse early learning environments, such as preschools and childcare facilities. The work schedule is adaptable, tailored to meet the specific needs of the children served.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist children during arrival and departure times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  2. Support students with personal care tasks, including bathroom assistance and the management of outerwear.
  3. Prepare and utilize instructional materials and equipment as directed by educational staff.
  4. Respond to emergencies by following established protocols and notifying supervisors as necessary.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the classroom and related areas, adhering to health guidelines.
  6. Document attendance and assist in data collection while maintaining confidentiality in special education matters.
  7. Complete necessary billing processes for services rendered to assigned children.
  8. Facilitate the use of assistive technology and other educational tools for individualized learning.
  9. Communicate effectively with children and educational staff through various means.
  10. Supervise and engage with students during structured activities and drills, ensuring compliance with program standards.
  11. Implement reinforcement strategies for learning as directed by certified professionals.
  12. Follow and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the guidance of certified staff.
  13. Participate in required training sessions to enhance job performance.
  14. Travel between assignments as needed, with appropriate travel reimbursements.
  15. Perform additional educational duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualifications

1. An Associate degree or equivalent college credits (60) or a PATTAN Paraeducator Certificate is required.

2. Prior experience working with children with special needs is highly preferred.

3. Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid is advantageous.

4. Ability to collaborate effectively within an educational team.

5. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.

6. Clear and distinct verbal communication abilities are necessary.

7. Capacity to prioritize student needs in alignment with IEP goals.

8. Experience with preschool-aged children is preferred.

9. Reliable transportation is required.

Additional Requirements

1. Current clearances as mandated by law are required prior to employment.

2. A completed School Personnel Health Record and TB Test must be submitted before hiring.

Working Conditions

The physical demands for this position include:

  1. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  2. Capacity to engage with children at their level, including sitting on the floor.
  3. Mobility to navigate stairs and move quickly as needed.
  4. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  5. Flexibility to kneel, bend, and reach for educational materials.
  6. Clear verbal communication skills.
  7. Ability to hear and respond to student needs.
  8. Adequate vision for performing job duties.
