Job Summary

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Intervention Paraprofessional to join our team. As a key member of our special education team, you will provide support to students with special needs in a preschool setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  2. Provide one-on-one support to students in the classroom and during activities.
  3. Assist teachers with lesson planning and implementation.
  4. Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  5. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  6. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An associate degree or equivalent number of college credits.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children with special needs.
  • Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and prioritize tasks.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, working 189 days per year. The physical demands of this role include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. You will also need to be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
