About the Role

Fifth Third Bank is seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a Residential Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a network of referral contacts, including realtors, builders, and professional and personal contacts.
  • Stay up-to-date on Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures, as well as available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Take applicant applications, complete Fannie Mae form 1003, and utilize the laptop for communication and access of daily rates, applicant credit reports, and loan transmission.
  • Collect and deliver loan packages in a timely manner, manage pipelines for originated loans through closing, and complete required management reports.
  • Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants, maintaining high levels of customer service and managing expectations.
  • Attend and participate in Consumer Lending meetings as required by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a four-year college degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of mortgage sales experience, with an established book of local referral sources and existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines, residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures, as well as federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Demonstrated organizational, written and verbal communication, teamwork, and customer service skills, with proven computer skills and basic sales technique skills.
  • A strong desire to excel in a competitive environment and registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
