Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Medical Technologist performs laboratory testing with a focus on delivering high-quality results. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical significance, operation of instrumentation, and accurate reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all clinical testing in assigned departments.
- Record and report test results accurately and promptly.
- Perform and interpret quality control testing following established guidelines.
- Maintain a high level of quality assurance.
- Practice established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
- Able to recognize a problem by following prescribed strategies and make necessary corrections.
- Coordinate and evaluate new reagents, procedures, and equipment as requested by supervisors.
- Perform routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
- Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.
- If applicable, must maintain active certification.
- Preferred experience, but not required.
- Effective Communication Skills.
