Job Summary:

Draper Labs is seeking a highly skilled Senior Space Navigation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Space and Strategic Navigation group, you will be responsible for developing and integrating advanced navigation algorithms and software for cutting-edge space and defense systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, integrate, and deploy advanced navigation algorithms and software for systems operating in complex environments such as underwater, ground, air, and space.
  • Design, develop, and analyze navigation systems for a variety of applications, including covariance analysis, high-fidelity sensor modeling, navigation filter prototyping, Monte Carlo analysis, flight software development, integration and testing, flight test support, and post-flight analysis.
  • Investigate and analyze project requirements, and develop solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Derive task-level or component-level requirements from system requirements.
  • Contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations, and clearly communicate work assignments to team members.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. PhD preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience as an Aerospace Engineer, or related.
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C/C++ or other related tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of extended Kalman filters and related algorithms, and knowledge of navigation and/or tracking algorithms including sensor fusion techniques.
