Community Wellness Advocate

As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in fostering hope and demonstrating that recovery is achievable. You will assist individuals in developing coping strategies, managing their symptoms, and enhancing their community living skills.
This is a full-time position with benefits, working Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 8 PM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Share personal recovery experiences to inspire others and promote the use of recovery tools.
- Empower individuals to recognize their resilience and potential.
- Facilitate connections between individuals and their community.
- Support clients with mental health and substance use challenges in building a support network.
- Encourage independent decision-making and proactive engagement in treatment.
- Help clients identify their strengths and resources to aid in their recovery journey.
- Contribute to treatment team discussions and client Wellness Plans.
- Complete required training and certifications as a Peer Specialist.
- Assist clients with transportation needs as necessary; driving is a key component of this role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Includes operating vehicles and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Must identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health or substance use services.
- Ability to pass a background check or request an exception.
- Completion of a state-approved training program and certification process within 60 days of hire.
- A valid driver's license and minimum automobile insurance coverage are required.
