Job Overview

WAGE RATE - $20.20/HR

The Nurse Aide Trainee role serves as a pathway to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). In this position, you will assist nursing staff with various responsibilities across different units as assigned until you are enrolled in a CNA training program.

Qualifications and Experience

High School diploma is preferred; prior experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive assignments at the start of each shift.
  • Prepare and organize supplies for morning and evening care.
  • Maintain cleanliness in resident rooms post-care.
  • Handle soiled linens appropriately and replace with fresh linens.
  • Monitor linens for damage and report issues to the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager.
  • Ensure bedside stands and toiletries are organized and labeled correctly.
  • Keep common areas, including closets and bathrooms, clean and orderly.
  • Provide housekeeping services in resident rooms as necessary, including sweeping and dusting.
  • Assist CNAs with resident transfers using mechanical lifts, acting as a second assist.
  • Organize and return clean personal laundry to residents.
  • Support the transportation of residents to various departments and appointments.
  • Help distribute meals and assist residents with feeding after completing the required training.
  • Deliver nourishment and beverages to residents between meals.
  • Document meal intakes and fluid distribution in the designated system.
  • Engage in one-on-one interactions with residents as directed by nursing management.
  • Provide companionship through conversation and activities.
  • Facilitate small group activities for residents in need.
  • Accompany residents to external medical appointments as necessary.
  • Respond to call lights and assist residents or notify nursing staff as needed.
  • Assist nursing staff and unit secretaries in maintaining supply rooms.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Capability to interact effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally distressed individuals.
  • Adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Awareness of abuse reporting requirements.
  • Commitment to attending all required training and education sessions.
Personal Attributes:
  • Appropriate attire as per departmental dress code.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Compliance with professional conduct and identification protocols.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to move throughout the facility during working hours.
  • Capacity to lift, push, pull, and move at least fifty (50) pounds.
  • Engagement in various physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Good health and ability to manage the mental and emotional challenges of the role.
Compliance:

Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to policies and regulations regarding the confidentiality and security of protected health information.
