We are in search of a Seafood Department Leader (DL) and Assistant Department Leader (ADL) who can effectively guide the seafood section and support the store management team in delivering an exceptional shopping experience that excites our customers about our outstanding products.
Role of the Seafood Department Leader:
The Seafood Department Leader will serve as a pivotal figure in our new store, inspiring the team and ensuring excellence in operations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, training, supervising, ordering, processing, and presenting seafood products. It is essential to uphold food safety and workplace safety protocols under the guidance of the Store Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Store Manager with all responsibilities related to the Seafood Department.
• Oversee all operations within the Seafood Department, including customer service, management, ordering, receiving products, scheduling, and paperwork.
• Conduct in-service training for all seafood department employees, ensuring proper documentation under the Store Manager's direction.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager to maintain profit margins in line with the approved budget for the seafood department, including sales goals, cost management, and waste control.
• Manage costs by minimizing shrinkage and theft.
• Ensure high quality and adequate quantity of products through proper ordering and receiving processes.
• Advise customers on the quality of seafood products and provide guidance on handling, preparation, freezing, and storage methods.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the seafood back room and display areas.
• Regularly check display cases to ensure products are clean, organized, and readily available for customers.
• Utilize management tools to drive departmental success.
• Engage and coach employees in effective selling techniques.
• Address customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Support safety training and meetings, ensuring compliance with CAL OSHA SB-198.
• Document department meetings and obtain necessary employee signatures.
• Maintain the Seafood Department in accordance with health codes and sanitation standards.
• Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of seafood department equipment.
• Lead by example, adhering to company policies and procedures.
• Follow the employee handbook, particularly regarding service standards and appearance.
• Consistently meet or exceed Tokyo Central's standards in service, quality, and cleanliness.
Basic Requirements:
• Ability to adapt to various store environments during training, potentially across different Tokyo Central locations.
• Demonstrated small team management skills, with team sizes ranging from 0 to 10 employees.
• A High School diploma or GED is required; six months to one year of seafood-related experience and/or training is preferred.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting English documents, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence. Effective communication skills in English are essential; knowledge of Japanese and/or Spanish is a plus.
• Basic mathematical skills are necessary for calculations involving figures and amounts.
• Strong reasoning abilities to interpret instructions and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and noise levels. Adherence to safety protocols is crucial.
