Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain the mission of St. Joseph's Physicians, delivering quality, accessible healthcare with compassion and service excellence.
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician or other healthcare provider.
  • Assist with scheduling tests and treatment, pre-certify patients for hospital care and/or procedures, and process referrals to other providers.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and interviewing the patient, recording medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit, and taking vital signs.
  • Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, execute follow-up tasks, and help integrate information into care plans.
  • Assist providers and nurses with medical and office procedures, including blood draws, EKGs, minor procedures, and rooming of patients within the scope of practice.
  • Follow provider orders to schedule referrals, diagnostic tests, lab tests, appointments, etc.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms, treatment rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and neat environment.
  • Responsible for successful and timely completion of work.
  • Readily assist others upon completion of assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage priorities and balance workload.
  • Demonstrate competency in computer data entry.
  • Arrive in the designated work area at the assigned time in appropriate attire prepared to work.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and accept change in a positive manner.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Holds National Medical Assistant Certification: CMA, CCMA, RMA, or Graduate of a Medical Assistant Training Program.
  • Proficient in obtaining manual vital signs.
  • Experience using an electronic health record system.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and respect.
  • Ability to obtain and record patient data, including prior health history, family history, allergies, current medications, current complaints, health screening questionnaires, and basic anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Experience assisting physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providers in performing clinical tasks and procedures.
  • Ability to provide patients with information related to their health and wellness.
Work Environment and Hazards

Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

Pay Range

$26.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
