Zurich Insurance Group is seeking an experienced National Construction Property Energy Underwriter to join our team. This role can be based in any of our U.S. locations and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring two days per week in the office.

As a National Construction Property Energy Underwriter, you will handle complex new and renewal domestic Construction Property Energy accounts and serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the team. You will work collaboratively across the Construction and Energy platforms, developing and maintaining relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition.

The ideal candidate will have a strong sales execution mindset and knowledge of Energy Construction Property policies focused on Master and Project Builders Risk opportunities. You will be responsible for administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining & collaborating with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business related needs, as appropriate.
  • Providing guidance to lower level associates.
  • Supporting the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
  • Proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities.
  • Completing detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
  • Qualifying accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
  • Making broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.

Basic qualifications for this role include:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Expert technical knowledge of Construction Energy Property Underwriting.
  • Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the Industry.
  • Sales execution mindset.
  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation for this role varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
