Job Summary

The Deputy Women Veterans Program Manager serves as an advocate for women and provides leadership in establishing, coordinating, and integrating accessible quality health care services with multiple disciplines within the Health Care System. The DWVPM has the responsibility to provide clinical evidence-based services and interventions, including focused individual and group work; specialized case management; program development and strategic planning.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in improving and coordinating the provision of comprehensive health care services to women veterans;
  • Medical and/or surgical health care services and psychosocial care of women's' physical and mental health needs, via collaboration with the Women's Health Medical Director (WHMD), Women Veterans Program Manager, Intimate Partner Violence Coordinator, Suicide Prevention Coordinator and Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator;
  • Responsible for program management duties such as outreach, survey readiness, monitoring of the environment of care needs, assisting with the implementation of strategic planning goals, review/expansion of programs and services as well as programmatic coverage in the absence of the Women Veteran Program Manager;
  • Assists in the coordination and provision of gender-specific and gynecological services; counseling and treatment for sexual trauma; appropriate psychiatric services such as drug and alcohol treatment and group therapy, which may have gender variations; endocrinology; and oncology (breast and reproductive cancers) to eligible women veterans;
  • Supports the WVPM in outreach efforts to identify, locate and educate women Veterans of health care services available via VHA;
  • Represents the interests of women Veterans in weekly Environment of Care rounds of patient care areas, ensuring compliance with requirements related to dignity, safety, and privacy;
  • Serves on the Women Veterans Health Committee, actively participates in women's health team meetings, committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility, VISN and/or national levels, as deemed appropriate by the Supervisor;
  • Monitors and evaluates the implementation of effective programs in the CBOCs that are gender specific and culturally sensitive;
  • Provides direct care services as needed, demonstrating skill in use of specialized interventions and treatment modalities, in individual and group counseling/psychotherapy, and/or case management;
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and reports on program performance, including assigned measures, monitors, data, and other metrics of interest;
  • Improves access to and continuity of comprehensive care through ongoing facility self assessment, strategic planning, and implementation of evidence-based programs;
  • Integrates targeted VA initiatives and campaigns for coordination of primary care, mental health, gender-specific and gender-sensitive care through collaboration with facility leadership, VISN and VA Women's Health Services;
  • Provides specialized consultation and support to colleagues regarding the psychosocial treatment needs of women Veterans, and models effective social work practice skills;
  • Fulfills ethical responsibilities to Veterans, colleagues and VA in accordance with relevant discipline Code of Ethics, VHA Code of Ethics, and local Ethics policies, which includes but is not limited to compliance with all laws and regulations related to confidentiality and release of information, and protecting Veterans' personal identifying information;
