Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned technical lead to join our software engineering team at NetApp, Inc. as a Senior Software Development Lead. This is a mid-level technical lead position that requires an individual to be broad-thinking, systems-focused, creative, team-oriented, technologically savvy, able to lead large cross-functional teams, and driven to produce results.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development, testing, and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises solutions. This includes working as part of a team responsible for the development, testing, and debugging of features related to AI/ML for NetApp's flagship storage operating system, ONTAP.

As a key member of our Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost, and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, testing, and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop features related to AI/ML for NetApp's flagship storage operating system, ONTAP.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and provide support to other engineers as needed.
  • Participate in technical discussions within the team and with other groups within Business Units associated with specified projects.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards.
  • Lead critical and/or high-visibility customer support engagements.
Requirements
  • Requires greater than 6-8 years of experience in software development and leadership.
  • Excellent coding skills in C/C++ required; Python is optional.
  • System/Kernel programming; experience with Filesystems or Networking or file/cloud protocols is a must.
  • Proven track record of leading mid to large sized projects.
  • Strong understanding and experience with concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices.
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus.
Education

Requires a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
