Protein Product Buyer

Job Overview:

We're seeking a skilled Protein Product Buyer to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our purchasing team, you'll play a critical role in negotiating the purchase of quality protein products at competitive prices and maintaining adequate inventories to meet customer demand.

Responsibilities:

  • Attain targeted profit margins by maintaining product costing and pricing and ensuring accurate purchase orders.
  • Effectively implement buying/purchasing strategies to purchase products in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Manage protein inventory levels to designated goal levels and effectively manage the disposition of obsolete protein inventory.
  • Consult with vendors regarding current orders and new protein products, initiate orders, schedule deliveries, and process related paperwork and documentation.
  • Provide product and pricing information to sales staff and investigate protein product quality complaints.
  • Complete special projects as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent experience in purchasing or a related area is required. 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or a related field is preferred.
