Job Summary

The Activity Aide plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for clients/patients by planning, organizing, and conducting group and individual activities. This position requires a strong understanding of conducting group activities, working with persons with disabilities, and applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and organize group and individual activities, including games, entertainers, support groups, dances, arts and crafts, community trips, and socialization.
  • Observe and record client/patient progress, develop activity treatment/goal attainment plans for new residents, and maintain program records.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van and/or assume responsibility for the care and safety of clients/patients on trips outside the facility.
  • Work with community groups and recreational facilities to schedule and coordinate activities.
  • Oversee and instruct clients/patients in various activities, such as games, music, athletics, arts and crafts, swimming, and exercise programs.
  • Plan and organize trips and special events.
  • Observe and record progress, problems, and/or incidents.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing client/patient assessments and interest surveys.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement approved activities treatment or goal attainment plans.
  • Participate as a member of the treatment team.
  • Perform minor maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and making mechanical adjustments to activity equipment.
  • Requisition needed supplies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of conducting group activities.
  • Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of narrative report writing.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
