Position: Assistant Project Engineer

This is an entry-level role within the project management career trajectory. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting project management activities as directed by senior project management personnel.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development and Preconstruction
  1. Assist the business development team in comprehending potential projects and their requirements.
  2. Engage in quality assurance and quality control review sessions.
Self-Performed Work Understanding
  1. Gain insight into self-perform capabilities.
  2. Familiarize with warehouse equipment, rentals, and small tools.
Estimating and Bidding Support
  1. Conduct quantity take-offs.
  2. Assist the project team in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids.
  3. Participate in trade scope reviews.
Scheduling Assistance
  1. Support the superintendent and project manager with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  2. Learn and apply the Last Planner system.
  3. Contribute to daily and weekly work planning.
Project Documentation Management
  1. Review all project drawings and specifications.
  2. Manage electronic document uploads and downloads.
  3. Draft and process Requests for Information (RFIs).
  4. Review and manage shop drawings and submittals.
  5. Participate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination meetings.
  6. Assist in acquiring necessary LEED documentation.
Subcontractor Management
  1. Support the project team in reviewing subcontractor change requests.
  2. Assist in the evaluation of subcontractor invoices.
Cost Control Support
  1. Understand various change document types and their appropriate applications.
  2. Assist the superintendent in monitoring labor costs.
  3. Support material procurement and cost coding efforts.
  4. Collect and report cost history data as directed.
Participation in Project Meetings
  1. Attend all project and company safety meetings.
  2. Participate in foremen's meetings and take minutes.
  3. Engage in construction coordination meetings and document outcomes.
  4. Contribute to start-up meetings.
  5. Participate in PACE meetings.
Post-Construction Activities
  1. Engage in the punchlist process and monitor its progress.
  2. Assist in preparing final as-built plans and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Participate in business development activities, including client functions and conferences.
  2. Build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  3. Attend project management and company meetings.
  4. Engage in relevant personal and professional development training.
  5. Participate in company-sponsored events.
  6. Support and adhere to established work standards.
  7. Engage in Lean events and promote the McGough way.

This position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation and during meetings, as well as while traveling. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds as needed, possess dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and have the ability to hear and speak clearly.

Occasionally, the employee will need to visit construction sites, which may expose them to various environmental conditions.
