Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at St. James Hospital. As a per diem ultrasound technologist, you will perform all ultrasound examinations as requested by referring physicians, utilizing your expertise to select proper technical factors and operate equipment with precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all ultrasound examinations as requested by referring physicians.
  • Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Select and operate equipment as directed.
  • Assist physician with invasive procedures, preparing the room and patient, and using equipment as needed.
  • Lift, move, and transport patients via wheelchair or cart.
  • Maintain records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
  • Secure and return supplies, including film, linen, medicine, and patient folders.
  • Consult with others to obtain a complete clinical history and gather pertinent clinical data.
  • Schedule cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Transport patients when necessary.
  • Take call as scheduled.
  • Supervise student technologists in the clinical area.
  • Attend educational programs as interest and availability allow.

Requirements:
  • Formal training in diagnostic ultrasound techniques is required.
  • Previous training in radiological sciences is helpful for anatomy and physiology, understanding of many disease processes, and typical sizes of structures.
  • Ultrasound experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or eligible.
  • Must have passed the RDMS physics exam.
  • Must be detailed oriented and passionate about customer service.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate data entry keyboard.
  • Excellent math, organizational, verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with multiple systems, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Monographic and medical terminology preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Electrical energy and ionizing radiation may be present; PPE is provided.

Salary Description: Min $32.13/Max $38.25
