The Highway Department of Custer County is responsible for maintaining 400 miles of county roads, which includes installing, repairing, and replacing traffic signage as per regulatory guidelines. As a Highway Sign Maintenance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring road safety and contributing to the smooth flow of traffic within the county.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis position involves manual labor, requiring physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions. You will be responsible for:
- Installing and maintaining county traffic signage, including signs, signals, and markers.
- Performing maintenance work on county roads and bridges, including asphalt repairs, gravel road maintenance, snow removal, and minor equipment repairs under the supervision of the Superintendent or foreman.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- A strong understanding of regulatory guidelines related to traffic signage and road maintenance.
