Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bus Monitor to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a Bus Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students while they are being transported to and from school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency support to medically fragile students and intervene as needed to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Assist bus managers with students while riding, loading, and unloading the bus, maintaining knowledge of each student's individual needs and requirements.
  • Monitor the status of students on the bus and provide assistance or notify qualified personnel as required.
  • Assist bus managers with responsibility for all equipment, including inspecting and maintaining assigned buses and equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of routes, riders, and emergency plans, including conducting Emergency Bus Evacuation Procedures as needed.
  • Act as a school system ambassador, demonstrating a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with special needs students preferred.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, bus managers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to lift and/or move more than 100 pounds in case of emergency.
Working Conditions

The Bus Monitor will work in a fast-paced transportation environment, frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
