We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to play a pivotal role in the packaging and administration of various financial aid awards, which include Federal Student Aid, institutional aid, Foundation aid, Kansas state aid, and institutional scholarships.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the Financial Aid Operations, including the Packaging, Awarding, and Disbursement of Title IV (Federal Financial Aid).
- Ensure adherence to the National Student Loan Data Service (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), and other Federal Regulations set by the Department of Education.
- Handle student work-study programs, respond to student inquiries, and manage data setup and retrieval, along with federal and state reporting.
- Conduct reconciliation of accounts related to Title IV programs (Grants, Loans, and Federal Work Study).
- Supervise the upkeep of financial aid public web content and related literature.
- Administer all institutional scholarships and ensure accurate reconciliation of scholarship accounts.
- Process and rectify financial aid documents electronically to comply with federal regulations.
- Verify and secure necessary documentation for all Federal Student Aid recipients.
- Package financial aid and generate award letters for prospective students, encompassing all available financial aid options at ICC.
- Assist in the origination and disbursement processes through the U.S. Department of Education in accordance with ICC and federal guidelines.
- Submit documentation to the Business Office for the disbursement of funds.
- Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in alignment with ICC policies and Federal regulations.
- Verify documentation for students employed through Federal Work Study and ICC Student Labor programs.
- Facilitate student employment placements both on and off campus, adhering to Department of Education regulations and college procedures.
- Maintain and submit payroll documentation for Federal Work Study and ICC Student Labor programs.
- Calculate and certify Federal Stafford and Parent PLUS loans in compliance with federal regulations.
- Provide training and support to personnel on the use of Ellucian Colleague.
- Assist in resolving complex or unusual student financial aid issues.
- Advise students and parents on the full spectrum of financial resources available for attending ICC.
- Participate and represent the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships in various committees, professional training sessions, and industry conferences.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Financial Aid.
Required: Associate's Degree; Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, student affairs, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of three years in administering federal, state, and institutional aid and scholarships preferred; at least one year in an educational environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing federal and state aid.
- Familiarity with higher education financial aid services and programs.
- Proficiency in Ellucian Colleague, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interact professionally with students, parents, faculty, and colleagues in high-pressure situations.
- Strong customer service skills to address inquiries effectively.
- Excellent counseling skills to assist students with unique needs or circumstances.
- Ability to provide accurate and timely information regarding student awards.
- Awareness of the needs and expectations of community college students and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Competence in office skills and computer usage necessary for job functions.
- Willingness to learn about tax returns in the context of validating student aid reports.

This position typically requires light work, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. The role involves sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods. Work is primarily conducted in an indoor office or classroom environment with standard office equipment. The noise level is generally low to moderate.
