Job Summary

As a Case Management Manager at DMC Harper University/Hutzel Women's Hospital, you will be responsible for providing management and operational oversight for the Case Management and Social Work/Discharge Planning departments. This role requires collaboration with hospital and system leadership to ensure consistent and coordinated delivery of all assigned processes within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the department to ensure hospital objectives are accomplished.
  • Develop and implement education and orientation programs for personnel.
  • Identify the need for and draft or define procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor the quality and productivity of staff to ensure work is completed.
  • Approve personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.
  • Complete performance appraisals and ensure competency of staff.
  • Assist in the development of daily, monthly, and/or yearly goals and measures for the department.
  • Maintain accountability for patient coverage and related activities among assigned staff members.
  • Maintain accountability for third-party payer communications for discharge planning and decision-making.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other health-related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
  • Three to five years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Two years of experience in utilization management, case management, or discharge planning in an acute care setting.
  • Two years of management experience in an acute care setting.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Case Management certification strongly preferred.
