Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality healthcare services to students and staff, utilizing existing resources and best practices.
- Assess and maintain accurate immunization documentation for students and staff, as needed.
- Develop and implement health plans for students with specific health needs, promoting optimal wellness and prevention.
- Conduct health assessments and screenings for students, identifying any deficits in vision, hearing, growth, or development.
- Plan and implement school health management protocols and procedures, including emergency response plans.
- Provide referrals for intervention and remediation of abnormal or concerning health conditions affecting students.
- Offer ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff, promoting healthy habits and lifestyles.
- Complete medical paperwork and attend school meetings as required.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from students, parents, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Successful completion of the national exam for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN).
- Certification through the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN).
- Member of the National Association of School Nurses (NASN).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through on all activities.
- Experience working with underserved communities and a passion for educational equity.
- Excellent bedside manner and ability to take constructive feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, including families, instructional staff, support staff, and outside groups.
