Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Echocardiography Technician to join our team at Rush University Medical Center. As a key member of our Pediatric Cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing echocardiographic procedures and providing timely preliminary reports of findings on patients with suspected or known congenital and acquired heart disease.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform and provide timely preliminary report of findings on patients including premature infants, neonates, children, adolescents and adults referred for evaluation of suspected or known congenital and acquired heart disease.
  • Obtain image and Doppler information required to define complex congenital heart disorders for patients referred for evaluation of non-corrected anatomy and function and/or evaluation of surgical reconstruction or repair, or placement of prosthetic devices.
  • Place performed studies with pre-reading on Cardio Merge according to Echo Lab protocol.
  • Assist with correlation of findings with reported or anticipated results from prior fetal echo studies.
  • Assist in preparation of echocardiography materials for case conferences, CQI meetings, research and educational presentations.
  • Assist in training hospital residents, fellows, students and technologists from other institutions as directed.
  • Perform electrocardiograms as needed.
  • Rotation to offsite clinics if required by job needs.
  • Responsible for CPT-4 coding procedures and ICD-10 diagnoses for patients under cardiologists guidelines and enter codes into Radiant EPIC in a timely manner.
  • Pleasant and professional when performing echocardiograms and have excellent communication skills when speaking with patients, family members and medical and paramedical personnel.
  • Participates in Echo Lab maintenance rotation as assigned.
Requirements
  • Two years of college or 10 years of experience required.
  • RDMS or RDCS certification in adult or pediatric cardiology.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology as related to heart and fetal circulation.
  • Above average ability to independently handle multiple priorities and stressful deadline-oriented situations.
