Job DescriptionOverview

Novant Health is seeking a full-time NICU Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) at Hemby Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with the healthcare team to establish personalized relationships with patients and their support systems.

Our Registered Respiratory Therapist II (RRT) serve as leaders of the healthcare team, practicing under respiratory and ventilator management protocols with a high degree of autonomy. Depending on the facility, they perform intubations and insert a-lines.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required.

Responsibilities

As a Novant Health team member, it is your responsibility to deliver the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time. This includes:
  • Acting as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
  • Prioritizing job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels and ensuring timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
  • Administering and evaluating medication therapies, performing patient transfers and transporting patients.
  • Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
  • Demonstrating independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
  • Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
