About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiology Investigator 2 to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Medical Services. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the development of public health policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and analyze endemic or epidemic situations of infections, chronic diseases, or other health conditions.
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources, including electronic data submitted to the EMS Incident Reporting System (EMSIRS) and the Ohio Trauma Registry (OTR).
  • Develop and implement research plans, timelines, and methodologies to address public health issues.
  • Provide research and support to the Quality Assurance (QA) program and administrator for the development, implementation, and monitoring of QA initiatives.
  • Extract and analyze data to identify reporting errors and missing data.
  • Research best practices and make recommendations for facility, agency, and end-user education and training to improve overall reporting accuracy and data fidelity.
Requirements
  • Completion of a graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine.
  • 3 courses or 9 months of experience in the use of statistical computer software packages.
  • 1 course or 3 months of experience in epidemiology, physiology, statistics, human relations, and interviewing.
  • 6 months of experience working in research or a specific laboratory identifying or researching infectious or chronic diseases and/or related environmental health problems.
