Position Overview

Summary

First Church Academy for Young Children is a licensed and NAEYC accredited institution dedicated to providing quality care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our operational hours are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The role of the Substitute Teacher offers flexible hours, allowing for a schedule that accommodates your personal commitments.


Under the guidance of the Lead Teacher, the Substitute Teacher will support the classroom team in creating a nurturing, safe, and loving atmosphere where children's self-esteem is fostered, independence is promoted, and individuality is honored.

The Substitute Teacher is expected to adhere to the protocols outlined in the First Church Academy for Young Children (FCAYC) Staff Manual and comply with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics.

This position is hourly and contingent upon the needs of the school.


Key Responsibilities


Collaborate with the classroom teacher/staff to review the substitute folder, understanding the day's schedule, number of children present, and specific duties not detailed in the general substitute folder.

Provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for the children.


Address the individual needs of children across all developmental areas - physical, emotional, social, and intellectual, tailored to their respective developmental stages.

Implement developmentally appropriate and positive guidance as established by the Lead Teacher, with a focus on promoting positive behavior.


Ensure that the classroom environment is clean, safe, inviting, engaging, and stimulating.
