We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our Special Education Department. As a Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for implementing existing lesson plans, instructing students, and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:- Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate.
- Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction.
- Follow Lesson plans as required by school and district policy.
- Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans.
- Address the various learning styles of students accordingly.
- Model correct use of spoken and written English language.
- Demonstrate professional practices in teaching Classroom Management.
- Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with district policy, state, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and school property.
- Remain in the classroom and monitor students at all times.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to school principal or school personnel immediately.
- May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard).
- Certified teachers with a current DPI license or hold a Substitute Permit through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
- Experience with urban students in a technology-rich, personalized environment is preferred.
- A competitive rate of pay: $194.25 per full day of assignments.
