We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Developmental Care Specialist to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of pediatric patients and their families. As a Child Life Specialist, you will provide optimal developmental and psycho-socially appropriate care, minimizing stress and fostering healthy coping mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Deliver high-quality Child Life services, adhering to Association of Child Life Professionals guidelines and standards.
  • Developmental Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of infants', children's, adolescents', and families' developmental, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
  • Clinical Interventions: Utilize evidence-based comfort measures, distraction techniques, and play activities to reduce negative outcomes.
  • Family Support: Educate families on children's responses to healthcare environments and stressors, maintaining therapeutic relationships.
  • Team Collaboration: Act as an advocate for patient and family-centered care, collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Operational Duties: Collect and input necessary data points, implement infection control policies, and assist with department resources.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Child Life Specialist within 180 days or Basic Life Support.
  • Experience: Completion of a 600-hour Child Life Professional Internship; minimum 2 years experience working as a Child Life Specialist preferred.
  • Skills: Demonstrated competency in pediatric development and wellness, ability to use good judgment, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
