The General Manager will take on a thrilling challenge of strategizing, planning, executing, and achieving results. Responsibilities will encompass a wide range of areas, including safety, quality assurance, operations management, human resources, materials handling, engineering, and compliance with regulations.
This role involves overseeing the entire manufacturing operation, which includes supply chain management, logistics, maintenance, financial oversight, scheduling, and inventory control. The successful candidate will demonstrate hands-on leadership to ensure optimal plant performance and will be responsible for evaluating staff performance across various departments.
Key Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including 3+ years as a General Manager managing a workforce of 200+ employees and an annual budget exceeding $20M.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field; a Master's Degree or MBA is advantageous.
- Proven expertise in applying continuous improvement methodologies within a manufacturing context (e.g., Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with team members, peers, and management across diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A hands-on leadership approach is essential.
- Experience in turnaround situations is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in highly engineered product manufacturing is a plus.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe operation of the manufacturing facility by actively engaging in continuous improvement initiatives focused on employee safety and top-tier manufacturing practices.
- Conduct daily reviews of operations to maintain a comprehensive understanding of performance metrics.
- Participate in the development and implementation of company policies, coordinating departmental activities to achieve short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Analyze operational activities, costs, and forecasts to assess progress toward established goals.
- Collaborate with direct reports to evaluate achievements and discuss necessary adjustments in objectives based on current operational conditions.
- Oversee manufacturing, production planning, and materials departments to review reports and resolve operational challenges, ensuring effective use of resources and minimizing delays.
- Review and approve capital expenditure requests and major equipment purchases for the facility.
- Manage key projects and performance metrics, providing insights through data analysis.
- Ensure operations align with sales requirements and approve financial analyses for budget planning and production efficiency.
- Set departmental objectives that align with overall business goals.
- Act as a role model for cultural transformation within the manufacturing environment.
- Develop talent and foster strong team performance, creating effective succession plans for plant leadership.
