About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Benaroya Research Institute At Virginia Mason. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks, including fixed asset accounting, monthly journal entry work, A/R analysis and reporting, A/P review, and general ledger account analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare standard monthly journal entries
  • Review non-standard revenue arrangements
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly AR reports
  • Investigate accounts receivable cash application issues
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account analyses for prepaid expense accounts, misc. receivables, accrued liabilities, other income, lease activity, and other areas as assigned
  • Assist with preparation for annual financial statement and Single audits
  • Reconcile operating bank accounts
  • Enter monthly fixed asset additions data into the fixed asset system
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries for fixed assets
  • Prepare fixed asset tracking forms and obtain authorized signatures
  • Reconcile fixed asset accounts between the fixed assets system and the general ledger
  • Complete federal procurement compliance forms and communicate with purchasers to obtain authorized signatures
  • Maintain records of new vendor excluded party review
  • Back up for preparing monthly and quarterly state and city tax returns
  • Review invoices processed and batched for payment
  • Collaborate with and serve as a resource to the A/P and IT team to address procurement software (Coupa) related issues
  • Serve as a backup for preparing, reviewing, and distributing the monthly cost center reports
  • Serve as backup for processing intercompany billings
  • Serve as backup for accounting and intra-company billings for core lab activities
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting and an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • 5+ years of accounting experience desired
  • Single Audit experience a plus
  • Requires strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office with intermediate skills in Excel
  • Must be efficient in analyzing data and problem solving
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Must be able to provide clear verbal and written communications and provide exceptional customer service
