Job Summary:The Acute Psych LPN will be responsible for assessing mental health needs, developing individualized care plans, administering psychiatric medication, and providing therapy and counseling to patients. You will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Responsibilities:- Conduct initial assessments to determine mental health needs and establish a nursing diagnosis.
- Develop individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for side effects and responses to these medications.
- Provide restorative care to patients, including individual and group therapy sessions.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment plans, including coping strategies, self-care techniques, and medication compliance.
- Respond to crises, using de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- IV certification within 90 days of hire.
- Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.
