Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities and Duties


The Electrical Technician III plays a crucial role in the installation, modification, enhancement, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and related materials and equipment across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

The individual in this role is tasked with overseeing field installations, modifications, enhancements, and repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment.

This position requires adherence to established timelines, ensuring that all work meets quality standards, project man-hours, and complies with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.


Core Responsibilities:

Key tasks include:
- Timely reporting to designated job sites as instructed.

- Proper maintenance and storage of tools and equipment.

- Safe handling and correct usage of tools, equipment, and materials.

- Systematic organization of materials and tools to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

- Ability to construct and comprehend pulley systems for lifting/moving heavy items.

- Capability to excavate trenches using hand tools or machinery.

- Proficient reading of labels, job site maps, manuals, and written instructions.

- Detail-oriented with a readiness to engage in various ongoing projects in a dynamic environment.

- Ability to guide and train helpers and apprentices in appropriate work practices.


- Skills to effectively direct the work of various levels of technicians to achieve production goals.

- Competence in planning and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.

- Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation.

- Proficiency in accurately laying out electrical systems with code clearances.

- Skills in installing duct banks and understanding spacing requirements.

- Capability to install switchgear.

- Knowledge of proper cable selection and installation per NEC standards.

- Ability to perform material take-offs to execute work efficiently.

- Effective communication with customers regarding issues and solutions.

- Proficiency in troubleshooting.

This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position reporting to the Director of Electrical Service.

Qualifications:
Essential Education, Experience, and Skills

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

- Experience in terminations (including aluminum and copper, twisted pair cable, and coaxial cable).

- Comprehensive understanding of company/job safety requirements (OSHA).

- Ability to effectively communicate hand signals to operators.

- Knowledge of series circuits, Ohm's Law, DC Circuits, and resistance effects.

- Proficiency in basic arithmetic and electrical formulas.

- Familiarity with blueprints/shop drawings and symbol usage.

- Understanding of conduit bending techniques.

- Knowledge of switching procedures and OSHA requirements.

- Familiarity with NEC regulations.

Knowledge Required:

Implementation of grounding practices, transformer protection/connections, insulating oils, overcurrent protection, parallel circuits, fuse-operated circuit breakers, motors, inductance, capacitance, and power factors.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

- Awareness of industry standards and competitors.

- Flexibility to perform tasks beyond the primary scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements:

- Up to 10% of time may be spent traveling to job sites or office locations.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:


- Ability to work at various heights, up to 90 feet, using ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and other safe work areas.


- Capability to transition from employee parking to construction areas and access all levels of buildings, even if access is limited to OSHA-approved construction ladders or stairs.

- Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., switchgear rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels).

- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities.

- Proficiency in working from various types of ladders (step ladders, A-frame ladders, extension ladders) and ability to carry and relocate a 12-foot stepladder independently.

- Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements (hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses, respirators as needed).

- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.


- Flexibility to work 10-hour days, night shifts, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required with little or no notice.

- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

- Certification and capability to perform first aid, CPR, and emergency rescue if necessary.

- Prohibition from working on energized circuits or with energized equipment.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members to complete tasks.

- Capability to work in noisy environments.

- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, depending on job location and time of year.

- Physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.

- Capacity to lift loads of up to 51 lbs independently.

- Proficiency in climbing ladders of all types.

- Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected).

- Ability to remain active and mobile throughout the workday.

- Skill in reaching and stretching to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.

- Requirement to have necessary hand tools on-site at all times (tool belts may weigh up to 30 lbs.).
