About the Role

Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest is seeking a dedicated Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to our hospital's mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer all therapy modalities to adult patients per physician orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of care.
  • Initiate, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators and NIVV, maintaining a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Perform arterial puncture, blood gas, and electrolyte analysis, providing critical diagnostic information to support patient care.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to Code Blue and Rapid Response Calls, demonstrating expertise and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Adhere to established quality control protocols, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Verify all physician orders prior to therapy, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct thorough, accurate reports to oncoming staff, facilitating seamless handovers and maintaining continuity of care.
  • Enter all patient interventions and updates into Meditech, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Vocational School Graduate with a focus on respiratory therapy.
  • Active Virginia Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Preferred: One year of adult critical care experience, with strong clinical skills in mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, and oximetry.
