Custodian/Bus Driver

The Randolph County School System is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian/Bus Driver to join our team. As a key member of our facilities and transportation department, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings and grounds.

• Secure school buildings and take out trash, clean bathrooms, hallways, classrooms, and the gym
• Mop and buff the halls, vacuum in carpeted areas, and clean the cafeteria after school activities
• Change lights, fill paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, and clean and dust high and low
• Clean all bathroom stalls and sinks, fill toilet paper and soap dispensers, sweep and mop the floors, and wipe down the walls
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, buff, and strip floors, and wipe down all walls
• Clean the gym, sweep and spot mop, clean water fountains, and clean up after activities
• Set up and pick up chairs, clean, sweep, and pick up all trash, and replace lights on a daily basis
• Assist when other custodial staff members are absent, and interact appropriately and courteously with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and central office staff
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Custodian, Principal, or Assistant Principal

• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and school staff
• Basic ability to read and speak/understand English
• Ability to interact appropriately and courteously with central office personnel, school administration, faculty, staff, and students

• Experience as a custodian in a public school setting
• Experience working and interacting appropriately with students, teachers, and other school staff
• Able to obtain a North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification and P&S endorsements

Work is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with RCSS staff, students, and the public.
